Well today i got to have a few hours and a good few hundred shots through the new BSA Scorpion SE .22 which i have got. I do need more time to fully see how it handles and performs but the signs are good. First off the wood stock on it is lovely even though it is beech, it is made by Minelli and is a major coup for BSA because it is class. The balance is nice and weight is just about right for me but i did think it would be a touch lighter than it is. The new BSA mag's are pretty good too, i struggled a bit at first because i had been using my HW100kt which is plain simple but within ten mins or so i was on the ball with them. Not had one problem with them this morning and work spot on.
The bolt feels a bit rough when cocking and loading (my Daystate Merlyn is super smooth) but i would think this will smooth out, the weight of the bolt to cock is spot on though and every thing cycles fine on the loading front.
I have a Twink mk2 silencer up front and does a great job and a Bushnel 3-9x50ir dropped on top which is spot on. I was zero'd in about 10 ish shots with AA Field and they seem ok. It does need to get run in as such and i have read that H+N and Falcon run pretty good through it but will use this tin up and see how things pan out. It's not bad or anything but i just want a touch better group at 30 yards, maybe it's me because i mainly shoot .177. The trigger is good but a bit too heavy for my liking, i will have a read and see how to change the weight of it. I am not too sure how many shots i got out of it before i needed to fill up, it was a fair few though.
Overall for the first outing to see what it could do i am very happy with it. The look of the rifle to me is pretty nice and it can shoot which is what we all want.
I will see how i get on with this tin of pellets and see if it beds in good or if i need to switch pellet brand before i take it out hunting![]()

I’ve just found what I was looking for, it was where I left it …
More shots, flatter power curve, new stock, pressure gauge. More info at the link below

Thanks Mr Tadpole, yeah big difference to the HW100 but i do like it and so does our lad. I wanted a .22 for the back end of the year because this Yorkshire weather gets windy and .177 is just not any good on most of my permissions(not looking to start a big .177 v .22 debate, it's just fact because i have learnt the hard way). I did look at the R10, it's lovely and is a great bit of kit and yes i may have to start saving for it but i was drawn to the Scorpion SE soon as i saw it a while back. It won't be replacing my HW100 but more to run along side it at this time of year![]()
Hi there, now that you've put plenty of lead through the SE, what sort of shot count do you get on a charge, and what do you charge to,
cheers Rich
BSA paper works says fill to 232 and you get 96 shots in .22
I fill to 200 and to be honest i'm not too sure how many shots i get out of it but it is plenty for a hunting trip. It is a lovely rifle and seems to be running in nicely, just got a new over sized rubber ball bolt off Phil on the BSA forum, it will look and feel much better once i fit it
The bolt is normal as such but has a big ball on the end so it is easier to grab hold of.
In the link (you need to let it play on a bit) you will see another type but gives you the idea. Phil on the BSA forum is a top man and class at what he does
