I realise this sight is old news these days, but i recently bought one and the only review i've found on here was started by Scott Country so i thought i'd give a review myself.
First of all, if you are thinking of getting one, phone around now quick as for some reason they have upped the price by about £100 and only shops with stock already in place are selling at the old prices.
I got mine from Blades and Bows, they still have one listed at the old price and are good to deal with. What's more, if you buy the "kit" AND the L808 laser they may knock off £50, at least they did for me.
Using the sight:
You will need weaver mounts and when zeroing remember you move the cross hair TOWARDS the impact point of your shot, don't make the mistake i did and try zeroing like a normal scope.
It isn't a heavy scope, but it is large, so remember you will need a big cabinet and/or gun case.
The scope really is good at night, i am surprised how much light it gathers in even without any IR, the sumlight function brings in more light again but makes the picture extremely laggy so switch that off straight away!
Again, i was surprised how good the built in IR is, i have been using that when shooting rabbits at 50 yards and can easily see well past 70 yards with it, indeed i prefer it to the "torch" and the laser.
The torch is not much better than the inbuilt, it seems to just provide a wider beam, mine has some black marks in the light so not sure if i have a bad one. The laser provides a very bright, clean light but is way too bright for ranges up to 70 yards and obliterates the x hairs and even eyeshine unless turned down. I have taken the laser off mine as i find it way over the top.
Magnification is brought up a lot by people, as it is only 4.5 or so. I thought i would struggle with this but night shooting to me comes easier than daylight, the eyeshine helps me a great deal, making a great aiming point. I have had no trouble up to 50 yards so far and i am in no rush to pay £150 for the lense adapter!
A major plus point is you don't have to worry about damage from lights and IR bounce back/burn which other nights sights can suffer from. Also, unlike add ons, it is securely bolted to your rifle so you can safely sling your rifle over your shoulder. It is lighter than other nightvision, and gives better eye relief than add ons. I have used an Archer Gen3 add on which was a pain in the ass compared to the digisight and was no better in use.
Plus points = Light, good eye relief, safe to use around lights/daylight. Excellent picture and light gathering. The batterries that come with it last for a good while.
Minus Points = Ties up your rifle, can be used in daylight but is only average. Sum light function sucks and comes on by default every time you switch the scope on.
verdict = much better and more enjoyable/easier to use than a Gen3 Archer add on. If using air rifles/rimfires then all you need is the standard version or at most the kit version. I really like it.![]()
