Right guys thought I'd do a little review on my new rifle. An Alros Trailsman. I had fancied a TDR for a while and when I saw this one, I knew I wanted a Trailsman. Its in 177 but has interchangable barrels so can also be .22. At some point in the future im going to get a .25 barrel for it and have had some great advice from here regarding this including obviously keeping it under 12ft/lbs
Right, onto the gun I thought id try and put a pic on of it fully assembled first so here goes:

Please excuse the scope, its not in the best condition but it is a Russian scope with a German #1 reticle and is my favourite. As you can see from the pic its a fairly simple set-up, lightweight and no wood. The stock fits into the pistol grip/action from the rear and the bottle screws in from the front. The the barrel screws into the front of the action and the silencer is screwed on the barrel. It takes less than a minute to assemble it so its really convenient.
Even when assembled for operation its a really compact rifle and when stripped down takes up very little room at all:

I had some trouble with the valve (on the bottle) but Stot from here did an awesome job of fixing it and also tuned the rifle superbly which was much appreciated
I should also mention that this version has a 400cc bottle but I think there is another version (not sure if its the standard version or just a different model) that came with a tube/reservior rather than a bottle. The bottle is great though as it gives a massive shot count.
Im sure you want to know how it shoots? Well im probably not the best person to explain this as to be honest im not a great shot. But for me the rifle is extremely accurate. I've been told the barrel is a Lothar Walther number but to be honest I cant confirm this but will say that the quality is great. I've shot it at between 15 and 50 yards and its been amazing, it actually took me by surprise. Not sure if this is how they all are or if I have been lucky or if its due to Stot's tuning but I was amazed by the accuracy. I had also heard some bad things about the trigger. Maybe im not refined enough to know a bad trigger when i see one but although its not what you would find on a top of the range HW it does the job and I have no complaints. Id actually say this trigger is better than the one on my Career 707.
For some reason I was also expecting the rifle to be loud but it isnt. This one also just has the standard silencer but it works perfectly well and id be interested to hear how it is with a different silencer but unfortunately the other one I have is made for the Career. I've also added a cheekpiece which is just a foam roller from my friends old weight benchmakes it really comfy to shoot though
My next task is to get a briefcase and line it with foam but havent got around to it yet so for the moment im just using a laptop bag which works fine

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this rifle and out of the TDR's in my price range im really glad I opted for this one. Im really looking forward to some rat-bashing with a .25 barrel in the future thoughi've included one last picture to give an idea of the size of the parts when sat next to my Career. Hope this has maybe given some information to someone who was thinking of getting a Trailsman or just wanted to know a bit about them.

There's nothing quite like a nice cup of tea
Glad you like your Trailsman. I have a .22, slim tube model and wouldnt part with it. Enjoy the hell out of it!
Love that avatar too Buddy, must be something about black chrome.
Yeah good review. I had the slim tube one too and my trigger was way more agricultural than yours so needed some attention. Yours was fine so I left it as it was. Take no credit for that.
The valve work on the other hand was nothing short of genius.....
Cheers

Cheers Hot Rod, I have seen the ones with the slim tube, give's it that Day of the Jackel type look
Yes Stot the valve work was awesome mate
thanks again for that it really is much appreciated, as you say the trigger seems great. I've read a lot about the Career 707 trigger and there isnt really much you can do with it barring cutting coils off the spring. I compressed mine more at one end than the other so that it is sort of like a two stage trigger now. A lot better than it was but still not great. Id say that the Alros trigger is significantly better than the Career one.
HW80K no mate they dont make them anymore unfortunately.![]()
