This is a discussion on Air Arms TX200, Weihrauch HW97k, BSA Lightning XL... Which is the best? within the Airgun Reviews forums, part of the Airguns category; I was just wondering which is the better gun out of these and if anyone has any other brilliant guns ...

    Welcome to the forum
This question has been asked a million times, Your best off using the search facility, but seeing as im here i would say you could take the BSA out of the equasion - Its a good rifle but not in the same league as the other two. I have had several TX200's and have just bought the newest version, i swear by them, second to none build quality - only equalled by the forementioned Weihrauch, they come factory tuned and are ultra reliable and suprisingly quiet with the factory plenum insert silencer. I would definately reccommend one

I have not shot the TX but I have shot a 97 a few years ago. The other day after having a good hold of both in a gunshop the 97k felt much nicer, although I do admit the TX200 was the full length version which felt very front heavy. Get yourself to your local gunshop and have a feel.

Also I just noticed that you are based in Newcastle, Staffs. The gunshop that had them both in was Pets & pastimes in Talke which is just up the road from you, I suggest having a look and a word with the fella in the shop.

Thanks a lot guys for your help, I asked the question because I wanted to get rid of some of the guns I own and buy another gun which has the best power and range but is also very quiet but has to be spring. Are the Air Arms and Weihrauch the best and has anyone got the stats on these for fps and range. Also if there are any other guns that are better than these that I should bare in mind.

Out of the box then the TX200, no question (get the HC one - very pointable) - it's been tuned, had piston bands attached, the blueing is gorgeous.

I don't like the clickety clickety click of the TX safety. Nor the loading port.

    Hw97k for me.

I've shot both and I like the action of the TX200HC, but I prefer the overall feel of the 97K.
You can't go wrong with a Weihrauch.

I've got a 97k and have just acquired a TX200, both really nice. Pretty much down to preference I reckon, not enough in it to say which is the better rifle.
