    Axsor rebuild

    Hi steve!
thanks for the details of seal websites. Chambers came good and the seals are here. Could you tell me what the drill is about using lubricants for assembling the seals - do you use grease and if so, is it critical what type? I'm just concerned about the pressures involved and rhe risk of spontaneous combustion......
    Thanks again
    Steve

Sorry for the late reply mate, been soooo busy! A friend of mine with a lathe made the delrin AT caps for me. At the end of the list of instructions you'll see the diargam with sizes etc. Nearly impossible to source on their own. As for lubrication, I didn't use any

Sorry I can't be more help

    Hi Steve
also sorry for late reply - trouble with the machine. I hate computers. All's well - I found that the innards of the gun had been put together with a smear of grease, and I used some nice white silicone grease that I had in the workshop. Found the reason for the leakdown - one of the main seals that go on the big brass slugs inside the cylinder had all but disintegrated. Probably the wrong kind of grease. The Silicone stuff is pretty innocuous so I'm happy with what I've done. Went together fine, your instructions were very useful. My gun was the same as your other correspondent - it had the three grub screws holding the barrel in place at the breech end and no anti tamper plug in the front barrel ferrule. Chambers sent me a picture of the innards of the gun and I found an anomaly - they sent one seal too many. I gotta go right now, I'll explain in another message soon.
    Take it easy man

I've used Dow Corning 55 for 'o' rings in 'static' positions in the presure side.

Hi Jackal, I didn't have the Dow stuff, but I'm sure that the grease I used was silicone. I looked at the leaking O ring again before I threw it away a couple of days ago and it was completely hard and had multiple cracks, one of which had parted the ring. also, it had obviously compressed itself int the square groove because it was permanently square shaped in cross section. Typical of a seal affected by the wrong grease, I would say. It had been installed at the previous (Logun) overhaul.
    thanks again
