    How to Camo your gun

May or may not be of use to anyone but here is a step by step guide of how I applied a camo pattern my gun & scope

    Using Krylon tinnies

first rubbed off all the varnish with various grades of sand paper then wire wooled it to remove all the dust etc

next was the prime, spray on and rub down a couple of times to get a flat finish followed by a couple of layers of basecoat of krylon Kharki

next, spray the striping with dark brown

Then shadow the dark with a medium brown - this gives a more subtle transition from light to dark

Next off to find a few bits of straw, I found some that was in my nets from a previous hunting session, taped it up ready for the Olive green & black coats

Next using the straw mask add some green

same method used for adding black - vary the angles for a more dispersed pattern - your choice really

    Scope & Mounts next

used the same method Kharki base coat followed by dark then medium brown, finally green then black

    Mounts

Apply a few coats of ultra flat matt lacquer to finish, then jobs a good un !

    Finished items

I got several colours which were about £7 a tin iirc, used about a quarter (or less) of a can - the Kharki used more as it was the base coat - I ended up buying £40 worth of paint - I did mine and I also reconditioned a Cometa 5 for my mates lad then sprayed that too - still got loads left

Krylon changed the paint options last year and renamed them to Krylon Fusion (I have both types in the picture) - they done away with two or three of the colours iirc

Do you need 7 colours for it to be effective or is there a suggested set?

    Plasticoat primer
    Khaki for base coat
    Dark Brown
    Medium Brown
    Green
    Black
    Lacquer

So 6 colours plus your Lacquer - should do 3 to 4 guns & scopes

You may need more Khaki or just give it a few coats of plasticote primer then a single layer of Khaki

    Sweet job mate well done!

Tatsumi...You could use your own colours mate, and wouldn't need to be Krylon either. Just because the plasticote can next to it doesnt say "camouflage" on the tin...The colours could still be more or less identical. Obv make sure the paint isn't gloss.

You could perhaps save yourself some cash aswell, buying 250ml cans insteasd of the 500ml jobbies as Ady didnt use much
