    webley alecto pistol

Hi all just been reading airgunner and see an add for the new webley alecto pneumatic pistol.
Never been into pistols but this has grabbed my attention.
It says that its power is limited to 5.8 ft.lbs. why? is there a legal limit to pistols and if the power was greater how would it perform?

    Arrow

Been a Rule / Act for years that No Air Pistol
    Must Exceed Sub 6FP

Even though my TAC Pistols - which are on section 1 License
It states my Pistols must not exceed Sub 6FP Rule

Why do you think that there is so many Mini rifles are Around

They work Well - higher powered pistols

Why do think so many Shooters Shot Real Pistols
    Before the Ban / restrictions

In UK there are very Few Shooters that Are Granted
Pistols that Can Exceed Sub 6FP

Not aware of Any Air Pistols that are Licensed to Exceed the
    Sub 6FP Rule

Not an "air pistol" but anyone can apply to own a pistol in the uk, although there are certain criteria,

The pistol can be if you wish a 357 magnum or 44 magnum or any other pistol providing the barrel is of at least 30cm in length.

The owner of such a pistol has to have a section 1 firearm certificate.

The simply fact is that the barrel length of 30cm takes it outside of the act that banned pistols. with regard to ownership, even the national rifle association have stated that they will incorporate this discipline into their ciriculum if anyone wants to use this sort of pistol which is perfectly legal within the UK.

So if you want to shoot a proper pistol instead of an air pistol etc this is the way forwards.

They are classed as "Long Barrelled Pistols".

or short barreled ones can be obtained if you have the bit on your ticket (section 5?) for humane dispatch of farm animals etc. so cant be used at the local club.
need a farm to say they need you to have a gun for the above and i think they have to be limited to 2 shot capacity

It takes about 5 minutes with Google to find out the restrictions on Muzzle energy with pistols and rifles.
